So you have to pull the motor out to change the timing chain guides and tensioner? Sounds like the worst thing ever...

Well done video, but i think he is a bit bias. Can a timing chain between the motor and trans really be a good thing? Lifetime chain i get it but still

3:14 a great way to increase chances of mixing Engine Oil and Antifreeze... After few years or after the warranty expires and the gasket weakness..

The timing chain being at the back of the engine (and being a chain) is actually a good thing IMO. This means accessories and cooling are ran by serpentine belt and doesn't require a full timing job because someone thought it was a good idea for the water pump to be ran by the timing belt

Must be smoking that rock to think that shit for a second, only reason I clicked on a video with such a stupid title was to tell you you must be high as fuck. The 2jz and the rb26dett were 2 of the best engines ever hands down next to ford 427 cammer, 426 hemi or certain honda motors.

Imagine in 2050: - Bro, remember that B58 Supra engine?
                                      - You mean the 2JZ?
                                      - No, I mean the B58 in the newer Supra. Remember that?

Well Toyota didn't really partner up with BMW when it comes to this engine. BMW developed and used this engine way before, it was already in car in 2015, so development started way earlier. This is 100% BMW's own engine and Toyota didn't really have much to do with it at all. They worked together on other aspects of the car.

Well theres slight differences in this B58 than any other. The heads and turbos are different, and the fuel system is different(more high pressure) and it has more oil squirters.

Everyone complaining about "too much plastic" basically screams "I have no clue about engineering and material science". This isn't just what clueless people call "plastic" (as if there's only one type of plastic...). It's all extremely durable, strong, tough, impact and wear resistant polyamides reinforced by glass or carbon fiber. These parts are extremely light, but very, very tough, and actually better at doing their job than a metal part would be, on top of that they're lighter too. Also, the design and complexity of components can be far higher than if they were made out of aluminium or steel, and therefore can be more functional, more efficient, etc. As for them breaking, they won't. That's one advantage of these parts, because they're not cast out of some metal, which can crack or snap easily. They have some flexibility to them, elongation at break for these materials is often 30-40%, which means they'll never snap, crack, break, etc. in practice. They won't care about heat cycles or vibration as much as most metal parts would either. They're much stronger than they need to be. You know why? Because nowadays it's impossible to make parts too weak, considering you can simulate their behavior long before they go into production, and all car parts are made much stronger than they'll ever need to be in regular use, so if a part is made out of plastic, it's made out of plastic for a reason. It just shocks me how clueless the so called "car guys" in youtube comments are about cars and science related to them. It's the same as those old farts in the 90's who complained about cars being "weak" because they had plastic bumpers instead of steel ones like older cars did, but they didn't understand anything about the structure of car bodies under those plastic bumpers and didn't understand those modern "plastic" cars were much stronger than the older "tough" ones, and that crashing those modern "plastic cars" into their old steel tanks would show them how tough they really were.

Hope you didnt damage the cam taking it off like that. If you dont have the tool the proper way is orient the cam in such a way where all the pressure is on one cylinder typically it would be #1. From there you can lossen each cam bolt on the cam caps a 1/4 turn untill leaving the last cam cap with the pressure on it last to remove. The key is to not have ANY pressure being put on the cam in the MIDDLE.
