I just got my first car, and I understand what you mean. My friend gave me his old Toyota Corolla hatchback which he hated, the exhaust fell off and he had enough so he dumped it at my place. Still don't have my license, but it's being worked on. But it's just something about it that I like, even though it is what it is.

can't wait for this build! Ive been a huge fan of dusters since i watched the roadkill guys do their "crop duster"! My first car was nothing special, it was an 86 honda (lame), but the older i get, the more respect i have for the older muscle cars. Hopefully one day i'll be able to own a nice duster that i can work on and learn more about car restoration. but can't wait for this build! Im probably just as excited about this as you are lol!

My first car was a 1973 Dodge Dart Sport, Vitamin C orange, 340 4 bbl, black interior. The black decal trim was missing. It was around 385 bhp. A friend of mine helped the previous owner build the engine. The problem with it was it wasn’t geared all that well. It did great on the highway and interstate.

I miss it but has to sell it when I was in college. I was too poor to keep it and fix what was wrong. I had gathered a new front clip, doors, trunk lid, and hood for it still wearing original paint and no dents. I really wish I still had it.

1st car for me was a '66 Chevelle Mailbu (4 door) At 15 years old - I caught so much flack because it was a 4 door that I sold it. BIG MISTAKE. I painted it black & with only 66,000 original miles & it ran great I should NEVER haved listened to all my BAD friends telling me "where's the groceries, where's the kids". I should have told them to shut the F*@) UP & I should have kept it. I learned a lesson - NOT to listened to your friends. SINCERELY,

I am going to feel completely out of place here saying this but my first car is a 1997 Subaru Legacy Outback Limited with a 5 speed and 282,000 miles. At 268,000 miles, it spun a bearing on cylinder number 2 and nuked (I still got the heads and blown piston). I found a junkyard motor that runs like a champ. That is the only time my Subaru had a hiccup, albeit more of a vomit than a hiccup. My other project is my dad's 1998 Dodge Ram 1500 Sport with a 5.2 and a 4 speed. That truck is just one problem after another, but its still strong and reliable regarding it has 275,000 miles on it. Eventually it will run out of stuff to break. That truck was not cared for too much by anybody except myself. I love the way it looks being PX8 black with a tan leather interior. The sound of that thing is gorgeous. I also just got my first motorcycle yesterday. A 1998 Yamaha Virago 1100 Special that I got for a steal. It runs beautifully and can't wait to drive it more.

Just ran across this video. Have a blast with this project. My first car was rather normal as I had lived in California at the time. It was a '76 VW Beetle, but the unique thing about it was it was fuel injected. Got some really weird looks when I met with VW people on that. Was sad to see it go down the road, but it was having air intake issues as all the parts were junkyard parts for it. Sold it to buy my first Escort and brand new at that. Currently refurbishing a '92 Ranger for my step son with the 2.3L 5 speed.

We had to sell the dude that we sold it to took the body of and sold the axis and the frame put the motor into something else so there’s no getting it back I’ve already tried.😢

My first car was a 76 Sunbird. Bought it at 15 at an auction for $50. Floors were gone and the V6 was blown. Welded in new floors and built a 327 chevy for it. Ran it all through high school and a couple years after. Spun a bearing in the motor, parked it, pulled the motor, and sold the car. 25-years later.......bought another 76 Sunbird, just rebuilt the SAME 327 from that first car, and will be installing it in the new car shortly. I get exactly your story.

Got my first car at 15. It was a 1973 Pontiac Ventura with the "Sprint" option. It was a burnt orange color with black interior, 350 2bbl / turbo 350 trans which I immediately replaced with a 400 4 barrel / turbo 400. It was a pretty fast car for the late '80's. My best memory was when I beat a Olds 442 in a street race. I tried to find it to buy it back a few years ago but, from what I was told, sadly it went to a junkyard for some reason & was probably crushed. A grown man had wet eyes that day.😭

I already had a drivers license (hardship), because we lived in the country, and it was just the two of us out there, and mee-maw taught me to drive her old farm truck when I was 10 yrs old. Three-on-the-tree. But the Chevelle was a body shell only. No doors, fenders, nothing. No motor or anything. Not even the interior. Five years and five thousand dollars later, that car had Monte Carlo swivel bucket seats, a digital dash, a 454, and custom made t-tops! It was the original blue, but I added the white stripes to the hood and deck lid. It looked like a million bucks! My dad and I took it to an Astro’s game, and when we came out, it was gone, never to be seen again.
Fast forward to today, and I’m a proud owner of a club-cab D150, that I took on a trade. It’s in rough shape, mechanically, and some wanna-be shade tree guy cut out and twisted every wire in it,and under it, but I’m determined to get that truck back to new. I’ve even entertained the thought of doing a chassis swap with a 90’s model dodge, complete with modern electrical and interior. Just waiting for someone to roll over their truck, because I can’t bring myself to tear apart a truck that’s in good condition.

As I started to get other cars and that one started swallowing gas like crazy, I got rid of it. Because parts on it were difficult to get since that car wasn't as successful and was only in production for 3 years, I might not go back to one again. Don't wanna stress about it again

Then I bought a 1948 Vauxhall 14 J. Now I have a 1961 Humber Hawk Series II. I have never had a car that is younger than myself. I loved each car that I had. My Humber Hawk is very special to me as I inherited it from my father seven years ago after he passed away. He bought it in 1964 and he enjoyed it thoroughly.
