@Kurzgesagt I love your channel but in this video there so many facts glossed over, generalized and overpredicted that an AI could actually do a better job.

Aren't we all being way to passive about this issue? We as a society have the power to change what we want the future society to look, so if AI is unsustainable just don't promote it. Economy is regulated by people income, if we don't have money, we don't buy products or services and others jobs won't be lucrative, so the prices may decrease to stabilize this; *we don't have such a self balanced reaction with AI 'cause there are no writen rules for it* We need to take control of our own lives, at a society level this is the same as creating systems that won't blow up in our faces..

I think we will evolve to a society were most part of the people will work at research and development. Most of human been daily needs will be extreamly cheep and competition will make it afordable. At this point technology will evolve so fast that 20th century will looks like stone age. Thats what I think.

This automation falls exactly in line with all innovation in human history. As we improved technology, we reduced the hundreds of hours per week spent working in agriculture. As we continued to improve technology, we improved factory conditions and reduced the dozens to a hundred or so hours a week spent working in factories. And so on and so forth. Innovation reduces the workload and gives humans the ability to focus on things outside of work, which breeds even more innovation, which breeds even less time needed to be spent at work, which breeds more innovation, and so on as innovation exponentially increases due to the exponential increase in time being put into it.

With this in mind, it stands to reason that with this new era of automation, that job demand will reduce and the economy will follow suit. The new standard will soon be closer to 20 or so hours of work per week, as we can spend more time focusing on other ways to move forward. Automation doesn’t require wages, so companies won’t need to charge as much for their goods. Machines can make things far faster and with zero breaks or wage requirements, ideally slashing the cost of living, and therefore making it unnecessary that humans work more than 20 or so hours per week.

This will ideally continue until less work and more innovation is the new standard. Until we finally reach a near-utopian society in which work is no longer necessary and goods and services no longer require very much money, if they require any money at all. Instead, we’ll spend our money on pushing society forward with widespread investments in our future.

Certain tasks could be automated but even things like installing a new light fixture in an already constructed room would likely be cheaper to use a human instead of the multiple machines that would likely end up being required to perform the task that you only do occasionally anyways. This all goes out the window once machines gain creative ability and dexterity in a form that mimics a human's, but by that time we will have to either have integrated with machines or been wiped out anyway.
Basically, any job that requires you to move or act in non-repetitive, dextrous and creative ways will be the most secure in the foreseeable future in my opinion.
