I had an old laptop that has like 8 emulators and over 400 games and I only use it to play the emulators because the web browser is so clogged with free toolbars

        I've got to admit.
I've had a case, where in order to save few bucks i've had try to get cracked key for garbage editing program (but that's what could have handle the old PC..).
After few hours work then the PC install on its own few other programs, which connected to the windows root kit itself. Making my monitor and everything drunk (literaly) & including crashing/restarting constantly.
But i've got to admit, after 6 hours hard work, installing the "cleaning junk" programs (because obviously windows didn't help either with the case) I've done the operation and now its clean from the desease up to date.

I use Bitdefender and It's not a problem to me the amount of RAM it eats... It's meant to be that way for faster response. What bothers me the most is that I have no smooth transitions due to file checking EVERY-SINGLE-TIME I do something with a file... even launching Steam (I have a R7 1700 + NVMe EVO 970). That issue still needs to be solved, and I'm writing this one year later.

For those who depend on me to fix their computer problems and do this stupid sh*t i give them crippled devices. That can't load apps/programs that they want. Then they get infected. Once the device is unstable hit factory reset. Ah but they lose everything. Yep but no ransom no scam. It teaches them. Sometimes it takes years or they stop asking me.

Avoid sketchy sites and always BACKUP , if you want to do weekly or more checks with an antivirus test like malwarebytes or bitdefender thats fine. Also sidenote, YOUR STANDARD HYPERVISOR VM IS NOT IMMUNE, viruses can easily see they are a virtual machine and breach, if you really want complete safety (although you are never immune fully) then you have to mess around with vm settings ad there are tutorials on this also dont be stupid and allow filesharing between the vm and your host. Just though id say that as Linus was way to reckless with it.
