Humans love to explore. Strangely enough even horrible places – like Mars. Let’s see how building a Mars base could work and how insanely nerve-wracking exactly it would be.

Hey a question if space radiation on earth is somewhat reduced with magentosphere why cant we build giant powerful unidirectional magnetic fields around our mars bases for prevention ... sure it would be little energy expensive but a good crew morale, usability and adaptability is worth more in my view ... plus whats the point if you even can't enjoy the fuckin view of space .... or the feeling of amazeness I guess ? Can somebody point out the science stuff here more ?

          I actually wondering: why!
What Mars have that will be useful for us so we will spend billions to reach it
Why we can't just focus on finding a planet rich of mineral and energy or anything will be useful for us?

Its makes me angry people forget there's no development without Earth's survival..
Mars supports no renewable energy but we're willing to drain our resources whilst Earth is in it's most critical phase..
Humans are so blinded by new achievements they're failing to protect the most important planet of all.. our home

Right at the beginning, I just realized, we can terraform Mars just like our planet! Our planet's ozone layer got created with solar radiation and oxygen. If we can create a magnetosphere around Mars, It is basically done, Sun will do the remaining work with our help! Mankind is smart and we should use it to our advantage.

About the small atmosphere, my advise is to burn fossil fuels and release CO2 at the atmosphere which is easy to do (It will just take some time.) and slowly turn it to oxygen with photosynthesis.

It is NOT possible. Mars has NO magnetic field. Any atmosphere you create will be blown away by the solar wind. You would always have to live underground or under a dome.

Now imagine having that station running, and a large comet filled with high nitrogen and water levels comes dangerously close to mars orbit. We could choose to have it hit mars, likely destroying the colony, but also giving mars a better atmosphere and soil levels. Knowing it's now or never, would humanity sacrifice those mars colonists to ensure mars will become more habitable for future generations?

Mars has spots of Strong magnetic points where explorers would be reasonable safe. As far as dust goes... Electro static maybe?? I know I will get a lot of flak for this but: We cannot colonize Mars. So many things have to go right, so many things can go wrong, and so many things that might go wrong are absolutely unforeseeable. Landing on the moon is child’s play compared to sending people to Mars and keeping them there. How on earth are we going to pay for such a decades-long project when Trump can‘t even scrape thr comparatively puny 20 billions together to build his wall? Well, maybe the money earned with future „space“ tourism, i.e. letting the superrich circle the moon which is right on our doorstep, might be put towards the venture, but what for?
Just think this through: for the first settlers life on Mars would be so infinitely dreary and burdensome that even the most resilient spirit will eventually be forced to admit that the Mars adventure is a futile enterprise. The wing of a humble housefly, the tiniest feather of a bird are marvelous constructions that are more precious than anything that we can hope to discover on Mars, examples of the trillions and trillions of evolutionary wonders to be found on our home planet - all for free, albeit largely unacknowledged, and taken for granted by most of us. Why do we yearn for settling a barren, cold, dusty rock that is far less hospitable than the summit of Everest? Has anybody ever tried to imagine the incredible, never-felt-before homesickness that settlers will experience, with a dim sun on the horizon, their home planet practically invisible and totally out of reach? No amount of training we can do here on Earth can ever prepare anybody for this kind of psychological horror. And there are countless other aspects that make the Mars adventure a questionable enterprise.
By all means, let‘s attempt it anyway; and if we fail miserably - and even in the very unlikely event that we succeed - it will definitely increase our appreciation for the miraculous planet we already have and so obviously do not deserve. Let‘s just hope it won‘t be too late by then.
And for the fun of it: Let‘s just assume a Mars colony can be established and children are born and raised there. Inevitably, they will learn about Planet Earth and see pictures and documentaries - will they not ask why the hell their parents ever left such a wonderful and varied place?
If Mars could sustain life, there would be life on it.
