In this video, I review the all new HP Spectre x360 15.6" Gem cut laptop from late 2018. This laptop is beyond aesthetic, includes an absolute powerhouse processor, and an incredible 4k display.
You Need This! amzn.to/2ChiQN5
This laptop includes the all new 8th generation i7 hectacore whiskeylake processor by Intel. The NVIDIA Geforce GPU and 16GB of ram make this a versatile laptop. This laptop is available in different storage capacities, different RAM options, and different GPU options. This customization makes this power laptop perfect for most budgets and situations.
EXTRA NOTES FROM MY REVIEW:
Nice that volume automatically adjusts to headphones vs speakers
Speaker quality is decent, volume is good. But there is some buzzing at high volumes (90+)
Bang and Olufsen speakers on the top and bottom
Face ID and fingerprint sensor work well
HP settings: temperature profile control, EQ
2 different levels of backlit keyboard (between the lighting controls and the fan speed controls, I would say this laptop is great for high performance tasks or everyday tasks on airplanes and while traveling.
Fingerprint works but I think I like the old swipe fingerprint method better (this one is more secure)
Decent face recognition in low light, but not perfect - uses webcam and Windows Hello IR
Easily control the battery life based on the brightness and performance level
Options: there is a 4k or 1080p option, also NVIDIA GEFORCE GPU, or intel gpu,
New fingerprint reader by the keyboard rather than on the side
On/off button relocated to the gem cut corners so that you can easily turn the laptop on or off without feeling everywhere on the sides, and without accidentally turning the laptop off
AMAZING FEATURE: mechanical switch to turn off the webcam! - no more sticky notes or tape!
Also includes a full keyboard (including a number pad, and nice clicky buttons)
Ports and buttons:
1 x power button
1 x power charging port
1 x HDMI 2.0 port which can support up to 2 5K displays
1 x Thunderbolt 3 port (great for the HP docking center)
1 x USB type C
1 x USB type A
1x mechanical switch to disconnect webcam
1 x micro SD slot
1 x headphone jack
Sleek look, new colors available
Very thin bezel
Overall light weight
Fan blows out both sides, for maximum cooling with minimal noise
Well balanced, smooth hinges
Very dark blacks in screen
Processor: Intel 8th generation i7 WhiskeyLake hectacore processor
Graphics card: NVIDIA Geforce 1050 Ti
Intel Gigabit Wifi (part of the new Whiskey lake processor by Intel)
Speakers: Bang and Olufsen
Screen: 15.6 inch with 4K and 1080p options
OBS has trouble with the NVIDIA GPU (I think)
HP pen works well but did not include a AAAA battery
HP pen is a slightly different color
Fingerprint sensor can be picky
Speakers sometimes buzz a little bit at high volumes
Charger is pretty large, and they have a charging port that does not double as a USB-C port (like the xps does)
